Keynote
This year's keynote speaker is Peter Pearson, President of the Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library. His keynote is titled Libraries Lighting the Way: But Who's Going to Pay the Electric Bill. Libraries all across the country are experiencing record utilization coupled with dramatic losses in public funding....a perfect storm. What can libraries do to weather this storm? Sometimes the answers can come from non-librarians. Trustees, Friends, Foundations and community residents can help tremendously especially in the areas of fundraising and advocacy. This keynote address will highlight ways in which citizens can and should get involved in these two critical activities that will allow libraries to survive in these difficult times.
